“The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ).” John 1:41
This was the moment that everything changed for Simon Peter. He didn’t know that he would ever meet the Messiah. He didn’t know that he would ever give up being a fisherman and become a fisher of men. He didn’t know that he would...

Waste
My name is Meghan, and I am a waster. I waste a lot of things. Mostly, I waste my time. I waste, like, a lot of time. I waste time on the Internet. I waste time on Netflix watching entire seasons in one day and series in a matter of weeks, movies that I’ve already seen, I waste time cruising Facebook, looking at people’s statuses, refreshing the page (just in case I got a notification that hadn’t...

but if you support Obama you’re wrong. Your opinions are wrong. There is no way this despicable ignoramus can be let loose on this country for 4 more years.

BY MEGHAN BATSON AND BETHANY YORIO
I hid in your window well,
how I got there I’ll never tell,
I looked at you and I fell,
this glass is in my way!
Bi-no-cu-lars from the store,
in camo watching your door,
you’ve never met me before,
but I see you every day!
Your bare chest was glowing,
blue towel, skin was showing,
hot shower you were leavin’…
where do you...
My Utmost for His Highest 6/30/12
This was a Journal entry I made about a week ago, and I feel like I need to share it. I read My Utmost for His Highest most days (sometimes I have to play catch-up) but the passage from June 30th caught in my mind and I had to journal a little.
Today O.C. talked about not always arguing for our rights, and that carrying on an argument with our adversary is not always worth it. Sometimes, our...
Itaipu
Tonight we’re leaving to go visit the Hydroelectric Dam of Itaipu. The Dam is the largest operating hydroelectric facility in the world in terms of Energy output, supplying both Brazil and parts of Paraguay with energy. The original plan was to go to Brazil and see the Amazing Waterfalls there, but that plan fell apart after a trip to the Brazilian embassy to see about securing a visa for...

Teaching
Just so ya’ll know it was not an isolated incident, I made pancakes from scratch again today and they were AWESOME. I’ve also figured out my new cooking philosophy: Always add more sugar than directed (at least with things like pan cakes…) The past few days have been great with the students! The little kids I work with on Saturdays have gotten to know me better, and I actually...
Nothing Less.
“Today we have substituted credal belief for personal belief, and that is why so many are devoted to causes and so few devoted to Jesus Christ. People do not want to be devoted to Jesus, but only to the cause He started.”- Oswald Chambers
Mr. Chambers, you never cease to make me rock back on my heels and readjust my lens. We want the good things the LORD promises, but without the...

Escarabajo rojo! No me pegues!
Day 4 in Paraguay, and I finally went and met with the lady who runs the English school. I will be going first on Saturdays, then I will start going Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. If that proves too heavy a work load, I will just do Thursday Friday. While I was in her office, I noticed she had a TON of vocal books for musicals, and I asked her about them and she said if I wanted I could...
Vamos!
I’m leaving for Paraguay today! I’ll be flying from Denver to Atlanta, Atlanta to Argentina, then Argentina to Paraguay. It’s going to be a long few days… Prayers appreciated!
Packing
Deciding what to bring and what not to bring for a two month excursion to a foreign country is proving difficult. It doesn’t help that there is a weight limit, and that I am no where near the gifted packer my mother is. I like to think I can pack pretty well, but I’m finding I either like to pack really heavy things or a lot of less heavy things that don’t quite fit in the...
T-minus 3 Days
So I leave for Paraguay on Monday. Yikes! I’ll be in Asuncion for the next two months working at an English school and who knows what else! I’ll be staying with a good friend, Deany Taboada, who happened to be my Paraguayan exchange student my Senior year of High School. I’m so excited to get down there and just be immersed in the language! I’m really looking forward to...

Wrap Up
Sorry it took a couple of days for a real update. It’s been insane trying to get used to the 14 hour time difference! The flight from Hong Kong to the US was fine! The majority of us were lucky enough to sit in first class with the awesome lie-flat beds. Dad and Michelle had to sit in coach, but we all had a pleasant trip on the plane! The flight to Denver was shorter, only about 3 hours,...
We’re home <3
Coming Home!
We’re getting ready to get onto a flight from Hong Kong to the US! This has been an exhausting, but AMAZING trip for all of us. Thank you all so much for keeping us in your prayers throughout these three weeks and even before. We’ve been so blessed! We should be home Saturday night Colorado time.

Nothing so far to take pictures of today, so no pictures… yet. This morning was really slow for most of the Batson family. Jeff, Will, Michelle and I hung out in the hotel rooms while Mom and Dad took Dang Wei to get a check up and some shots. She wasn’t too excited about the shots, and seemed a little apprehensive about the day, but Mom and Dad said she did fine! They got back as I...

Gotcha Day for Dang Wei
Today was Gotcha day. We woke up early this morning to have breakfast, then we had a fifteen minute bus ride to the adoption center. We were told it could be a few hours before all the children arrived, but as soon as we pulled up to the building, our family was the first one called. We met her almost as soon as we walked inside the doors, leaving no time to whip out a camera and video tape it....
Being Comfortable vs Being Obedient
Tonight, our family met to pray and talk about what’s going to happen tomorrow when we finally meet Dang Wei. Our time together made me think about something my good friend Beth says all the time. She says that God doesn’t call us to be comfortable, but that he does call us to be obedient. Sometimes he asks us to do things way outside our comfort zones so that we cannot claim credit...
